Design-Build Quality Assurance and Quality Control for Tutor-Saliba/Slattery Joint Venture

Experience included full QA/QC responsibility on BART’s Design/Build SFO Extension Project.

 

The $680 million dollar project extends the BART system with approximately 6 miles of 2 track cut-and-cover subway, 2 new stations and parking structures and 3 aerial structures spanning across Highway101 to the San Francisco International Airport BART Station.

 

 

BART San Francisco International Airport Extension Project

The BART to SFO Int’l Airport Extension Project involved design and construction of the cut & cover box section transit way through a densely populated urban area, major aerial structures, crossing an environmentally protected area, connecting to the SFO airport facilities, relocation and new utilities, all grading and track installation, signal and control systems, and system start-up.The project included an excavation forty feet wide and forty to ninety feet deep with excavation support structures. The tunnel and two station shells required over 500,000 cubic yards of concrete with tight quality control of concrete and reinforcing steel.
